Fileccia: Our mentality has improved

Cape Town - After Maritzburg United bagged their third consecutive win on Monday, Andrea Fileccia explained that the players' mentality has improved.

Under caretaker coach Fadlu Davids, The Team of Choice have put in some impressive performances - following the departure of Roger de Sa.

The club are well on course to achieving their highest ever finish in the league, and Fileccia said they were confident about meeting their target. They are currently seventh on the standings, with 35 points.

"The mentality has improved a great deal. All the players work together and believe that we can achieve our target of finishing the season in the top eight," the Belgian told his club's website.

"Also, coach Fadlu works very hard to keep the team compact on and off the field. There is also a lot of preparation that takes place before every game.

"The technical team really pushes us to achieve and we go into every game with a proper game plan."

The former Free State Stars front man has had a torrid season with injuries, but is ecstatic to back playing.

"It has been a difficult year for me being on the sidelines because of injury. I had to stay mentally strong and continue to work hard to be available for selection," he said.

"I want to help the team to achieve the target. My duty is to score goals and to assist teammates to score goals."

United's next challenge in the league sees then travel to Milpark to take on high flying Bidvest Wits at Bidvest Stadium on Sunday.
