Fadlu: We have to hit reset button

Cape Town - Maritzburg United have been quick out of the starting blocks this season, and the international break will give them a chance to start all over, according to coach Fadlu Davids.

The Team of Choice find themselves at the top of the Premiership table, and in an encouraging position ahead of their MTN8 semi-final, second-leg clash against SuperSport United.

But Davids has urged his players to switch off for a few days before they prepare to welcome Matsatsantsa to the Harry Gwala Stadium.

"We have to refresh, we have to switch off, a few days off perhaps," Davids was quoted by his club's official website.

"We had three games in seven days, so it's time for the players to switch off, press the reset button and start preparing for the second leg."

Davids, the youngest coach in the top flight, was impressed with his side's effort in their 1-1 draw against SuperSport, but believed they needed to keep their eyes on the goal in the second leg.

"We wanted to score an away goal, and luckily we got it in the end," he said. "It's half-time, and normally you tell your players, half-time if you are leading 2-0, to be careful.

"But we are not leading 2-0, it's 1-1. We still have a game to play and we have to remain focused.

"SuperSport are a fantastic side, you can see the work the coach is doing. You have to be on guard all the time because they can hit you at any time with a goal out of nothing."

The two sides meet for the second-leg MTN8 encounter on September 9.

Kick off is at 20:15.
