Fadlu not taking Pirates lightly

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates host Maritzburg United in a Premiership clash at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday, desperate to end one of the most difficult moments in their history.

The Buccaneers have not won a Premiership match since November 2016 - a winless run of 12 matches.

That has seen them slip to 12th on the table, just three points ahead of the relegation zone.

The Team of Choice are, meanwhile, in eighth position and have gone through two new coaches during Pirates’ barren run.

Fadlu Davids is currently in interim charge and he oversaw a 2-1 win over the Bucs in the first round.

However, the United coach is wary of the threat posed by an out-of-sorts Pirates.

“They are a good team and have fantastic individual players,” Davids said.

“I have watched their games since the new coach arrived, they are well structured, we cannot be fooled by their league position. We will give them the respect they deserve."

Maritzburg have reported a clean bill of health for the clash, while Pirates have Mpho Makola fully fit after he overcame his recent injury.

Thabo Qalinge (back) and Thabo Rakhale (hamstring) are still out.
