Eymael pleased with pre-season preparation

Cape Town - Newly-appointed Polokwane City coach Luc Eymael has revealed that the team's pre-season preparations are on-track ahead of the 2016/17 PSL season.

Rise and Shine appointed the well-traveled Belgian coach in July, with the 56-year-old tasked with preparing his squad for the upcoming season by testing out combinations in a number of friendlies.

"I am fairly happy with how things are going. We have been working hard in camp with three friendly matches already played and two due," he told the club's website.

The journeyman offered a brief analysis on friendlies played against fellow topflight outfits: Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United and Highlands Park.

"Our first match against Kaizer Chiefs, the very same team that recently played against Orlando Pirates in a Cup competition with exactly the same substitutions and after 90 min we won 1-0," he added.

"That should tell you there's progress but we not getting too excited. However we continued after the 90 minutes and the third 45 minutes where I used 29 players we lost 2-1. However the boys responded very well, tactically, technically and physically for their first game.

"Second game against SuperSport United - it was a very tough one. This is one game that was very tactical. We had a good build up until the very last minute and only there it was a very close race.

"Today we played Highlands park for a whole 180 minutes. The first 90 minutes we changed our system a little, played very well on the bumpy pitch and won ultimately won 2-0. With goals from Thobani and Ramagalela respectively.

"We have definitely improved as a team and the playing style has changed completely. One thing for sure I will still like to sign a tall striker and a more strong and experienced midfielder. We will be playing Orlando Pirates on Wednesday and then close off the friendlies with Witbank Spurs on Friday," he concluded.
