Cape Town - Free State Stars head coach Luc Eymael was pleased with the organisational structure and effort his side gave in Monday night's defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.
It was the Belgian's first game in charge since replacing Sammy Troughton and he saw his charges fight back from 2-0 down at Goble Park.
Nhlanhla Vilakazi's scored late goal, however it was not enough to claim anything from the match.
The 2-1 defeat sees Ea Lla Koto with just one point from three games this season.
Eymael saw several positives in the game against African champions Sundowns.
"I think we did very well. We were well organised. We kept a good
structure. We created so many chances I don't know how many we created
in the first half but we could not score," said Eymael.
"Two times the goals are completely empty, I don't know why we didn't score.
"In this kind of game when you have early chances you need to take the lead. Unfortunately, we conceded with just two minutes before the half-time.
"We conceded the second goal losing the ball in midfield, nobody making a professional foul. But we never gave up, we fought until the end. We tried everything.
"I changed from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 in the second-half, we pushed everybody in the front to score. We were certainly not worse than Sundowns in the matter of playing."
Stars' next fixture is away to Baroka FC on Saturday afternoon.
