Eymael denies replacing Komphela at Chiefs

Cape Town - Amidst speculation that he could move to Kaizer Chiefs or SuperSport United, Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael says he has received no approaches.

Eymael enjoyed a promising spell in his first job in the Absa Premiership at Polokwane City.

But it's since his move to Free State Stars that the Belgian's star has really risen - with seven matches left to play this season, Ea Lla Koto are in third position on the standings, seven points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

They are also into the Nedbank Cup last eight after a 2-1 win over Chippa United last weekend, but when questioned about the talk of a move away from the Bethlehem-based team, Eymael played down the speculation.

"Every day I get calls from journalists asking me about the same question... blah blah blah and all these rumours," he was quoted saying by KickOff website.

"I still have a contract with Free State Stars. I have a buyout clause. I don't know anything about these rumours about Chiefs and SuperSport.

"If there is interest, [Stars boss] Rantsi [Mokoena] will be the first person to know. I will know. You know me, I am an honest person, I will tell you."

SuperSport have entrusted Kaitano Tembo standing in on an interim basis after Eric Tinkler lost his job as head coach.

Meanwhile, Komphela's three-year contract with Amakhosi is set to expire at the end of the current season.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
