Cape Town - Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Simba Marumo believes the current crop of players at the club have enough quality to clinch the CAF Champions League.
Sundowns have been impressive so far in the competition after their 2-0 win over ES Setif and 2-1 win over Enyimba.
Marumo was part of the Brazilians team that finished runners-up in the tournament in 2001.
Downs coach Pitso Mosimane has made no secret of his ambitions to conquer Africa after leading the club to two Premiership titles.
"I think they do have the mettle to compete and go all the way to the knockout stages," Marumo told Goal.com website.
"They got the quality, the talent and depth. If you look at the quality of the team, it is something to behold.
"I think it was justice to football that a team that had been knocked out of both the Champions League and the Confederations Cup is not just back in it, but they are also in a good chance to go through to the semi-finals too.
"We got to the final in 2001 and we didn't have a team as good as they have now, so anything is possible."
