Ex-Sundowns player signs for Wits

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits have confirmed that former Mamelodi Sundowns player Ejike Uzoenyi has signed for the club after impressing on trial.

The 24-year-old Uzoenyi parted ways with the Brazilians in January and almost immediately started training with the Clever Boys.

As such, he has since shown enough ability to convince the Gavin Hunt-coached outfit that he deserves a contract in Johannesburg.

The Nigeria international struggled for playing time during his stint at Sundowns and will now no doubt be looking to prove he belongs in the Premiership.

Meanwhile, Wits welcomed the Aba-born star to the fold.

"Bidvest Wits is pleased to announce that it has secured the services of Chris Ejike Uzoenyi on a short-term contract until the end of the season, with options," said the club in a statement.

"Chris Uzoenyi is the second signing for Bidvest Wits for this second half of the season, after the signing of Granwald Scott, and we wish him a hugely successful time with the Clever Boys."

Meanwhile, Wits will look to add claim maximum points against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday, February 15.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
