Ex-Nigeria coach admits he applied for Pirates job

Cape Town - Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia says he has applied for the vacant head coach position at South African giants Orlando Pirates.

Siasia has had a couple of stints in charge of the senior Nigeria national team, most recently in 2016, and also coached his country's Under-23 side at the Olympic Games in Brazil last year, where they finished third.

Having been without a team since the Olympics last August, Siasia is available and according to the AfricaFootball website, has sent his CV to Pirates.

"We're talking, we have been in discussions for the past two weeks and I have already sent them my resume," the former Super Eagles striker revealed.

"My agent will contact me as soon as something comes up. It's about time I got another job."

Augusto Palacios has been caretaker coach of the Buccaneers following the departure of Mushin Ertugral in November 2016.
