Ex-Chiefs defender set to sign for Ajax

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town coach Muhsin Ertugral has all but confirmed that veteran right-back Siboniso Gaxa will sign for the club in the near future.

The defender has been training with the Urban Warriors after being released by Bidvest Wits earlier this season. Prior to signing for the Clever Boys, the 33-year-old enjoyed four stellar seasons with Kaizer Chiefs.

As such, the 58-year-old has made it clear he wants the Durban-born star in his ranks as soon as possible. 'Pa' is yet to sign a contract but he is expected to put pen to paper in the coming days.

Speaking to reporters, the Turk said: "A player like Pa, Sibusiso, he played in Europe, having him on the sidelines, sometimes I don't understand that. I would love to have him as quick as possible. He is training with us, but since October, if I am not mistaken, he had no game-time at all.

"So probably, it will take him around 2-3 weeks to get to a certain level in, we were going to play him on Monday, at least one half so that he gets a little bit game-time.

"Also, when these types of players have not been involved, the injury factors can happen so I am a little bit cautious about that. I can't wait to have him with us but it will take another three weeks I think."
