Evans' Downs demotion a 'slap in the face'

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rheece Evans admits he is unhappy after being denied a transfer away from the club for the second consecutive season.

Evans joined the Brazilians after an impressive 2013/14 campaign with Maritzburg United but has only played 43 minutes of Premiership football since his move.

Last season he was denied an opportunity to join Ajax Cape Town after the two club's failed to agree a deal and on deadline day of the transfer window, with the same thing occurring with Cape Town City this time around.

Evans has now voiced his frustration at having to settle for a second consecutive season of reserve team football with the MultiChoice Diski Challenge side.

"Obviously I want to leave. I don't want to be here and play in the MDC and I feel I have been demoted," he told reporters. "It feels like it's a slap in the face to be playing in the MDC.

"I was playing good football at Maritzburg United and I was expecting to play. At least I was expecting to be on loan or at least get my clearance from Sundowns. I don't understand why they can't play me.

"If they don't use me I don't understand why they can't let me go on loan. So I'm very disappointed at the club that they couldn't manage to help me find a team or at least get my clearance."

The 26-year-old scored three goals and registered two assists in 74 games for the Team of Choice before signing for Sundowns.
