Ertugral confirms Ovono stay

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral has confirmed that goalkeeper Felipe Ovono's name has been removed from the transfer list.

Ovono repaid the faith Ertugral showed in him with a superb performance in the 3-1 penalty shootout victory over Platinum Stars in the pre-season Bokone Bophiriwa Maize Cup on Saturday.

Ertugral believes the 23-year-old stopper from Equatorial Guinea would offer variety in the goalkeeping department.

"That's why I brought him back. He is great goalkeeper, we know that. Jackson Mabokgwane is also a good goalkeeper, so we have some good competition," he told KickOff.

"Ovono is great and doesn't have to prove himself in South Africa. I don't know what the problem was, I was not there. We know he is a great goalkeeper, and it's a pleasure to have him."

Ertugral also had praise for newly signed defender Thembela Sikhakhane from Golden Arrows, who featured in the friendly against Dikwena after reportedly signing a three-year deal with the Buccaneers.

"Yes, he has signed. He is a good player and that's why we signed him."
