Enyimba striker ready to floor Sundowns

Cape Town - Enyimba striker Onyekachi Peter is confident that his team can beat the odds away against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.

The Nigerian champions will face the South African champions in a Group B CAF Champions League clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Enyimba lost 1-0 against Egyptian giants Zamalek SC in their opening match while Sundowns' 2-0 win over ES Setif was discounted after the Algerians were disqualified from the tournament.

"The clash at Mamelodi Sundowns is a must win for us to chance qualifying from the group after match-day day fixture clash loss to Zamalek of Egypt," Peter told SuperSport.

"Although Mamelodi Sundowns' victory at ES Setif has been cancelled leaving both sides square without a point but we know we have played more matches than the South African side so the only hope of further claim on the tickets is outright victory.

"It will not be easy at Mamelodi Sundowns who are already bruised with the victory cancellation will want to prove to their teeming supporters that the win at ES Setif was not a fluke but well deserved.

"However, we have been on this path in the past and know what it takes to survive such high tempo game.

"We have worked on the mistakes that hampered our game against Zamalek to ensure we claim a favourable result at Sundowns."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
