DRC to determine whether Gaxa unfairly released by Chiefs

Johannesburg - Former Kaizer Chiefs star Siboniso Gaxa's playing career remains in limbo as he waits for the PSL's Dispute Resolution Chamber to rule whether he was unfairly released from his contract.

The 32-year-old right-back has been training with Bidvest Wits but cannot sign for the Clever Boys until the DRC reaches a decision about his case.

He took legal action against Chiefs as he believes he has an existing contract with the club, although Glamour Boys management contest this state of affairs.

Gaxa is seeking compensation for his dismissal and has been waiting for an outcome on this dispute since June. The defender made close to 100 appearances for the Amakhosi during his four seasons at Naturena.

Nonetheless, the player's agent Glyn Binkin has confirmed that Gaxa's case has been heard and he is awaiting a verdict.

Binkin told Kickoff, "We are only now waiting for an outcome, which might take a few weeks. The player continues to train with Wits."

In August Gaxa's agent Binkin confirmed that the dispute would be heard by the DRC with his client claiming that he still had two years remaining on a current deal when released by the Amakhosi.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
