Doutie pens deal with Ajax

Cape Town - Sameehg Doutie has signed a short-term deal with Ajax Cape Town until the end of the current 2016/17 PSL season, according to reports.

Doutie returns to his first professional club after graduating from the prestigious Ajax academy into the first-team in 2007, making over 40 appearances before being snapped up by Orlando Pirates.

The winger's contract with Indian Super League (ISL) side Atletico de Kolkata expired at the end of the December, 2016.

The 27-year-old, who reportedly earned just over R2 milion last year for his short stay in the ISL.

It is said that Doutie put pen to paper on a six-month contract as ISL will only begin in November 2017, after a total restructuring of the Indian soccer league system.

The Ikamva graduate was able to sign for Ajax as a free agent due to no Indian club being allowed to sign players on long-term contracts beyond the current season.

A source within the club told KickOff that the player was officially back and had signed a short-term deal after recently training with the first team.

Doutie is likely return to the ISL when the 2017/18 season starts.

Ajax's first game when the league resumes will see Doutie face his old side Bidvest Wits when the two teams clash on February 7 at the Bidvest Stadium.
