Doctor praises Chiefs youth policy

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Doctor Khumalo has reiterated the team's commitment to bringing youth players through the ranks to prepare them for first team duty.

Amakhosi have been criticised for their poor track record in recent years of successful graduates to the first team from their development structures.

In the current first team only Itumeleng Khune, Lorenzo Gordinho and George Lebese are products of the Chiefs academy.

"We are kind of like embarking on a structure whereby we are going to have a five-year plan and we are going to be able to get four to five players that will be Kaizer Chiefs material," Khumalo told KickOff.

"Because when you get players to be promoted in the senior team most of the boys it is luxury and then they forget why they are there.

"Big cheques, nice life, the first big cheque the guys buy cars and they don't even buy houses anymore. That is something that is not even existing anymore."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
