'Do I feel confident? Hell yes!' - Tinkler

Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler says he remains confident of winning the CAF Confederation Cup, in Saturday's second leg final against TP Mazembe, despite their 2-1 defeat in the first leg in Lubumbashi.

After falling behind to a Adama Traore (18) strike at the Stade du TP Mazembe, midfielder Sipho Mbule (47) scored a cracker to equalise. However, Daniel Adjei (67) scored a second-half winner for the Ravens.

Nonetheless, despite the setback, Tinkler takes the view that his side can produce an aggregate victory in this weekend's winner-takes-all tie at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

He said: "I’d rather leave with a 2-1 loss than a 0-0 draw because it was very important for us to get an away goal, especially against a team like TP Mazembe.

"They’re an experienced team, and if you don’t score here then it becomes very difficult at home. Now I think it has opened up the game a bit more.

"Due to injuries and suspensions you saw quite a lot of younger players, like Sipho Mbule, who haven’t had regular game-time, but they featured and they did it against TP Mazembe.

I thought they did well, exceptionally well. So do I feel confident? Hell yes! I feel very confident because I know that next week we’ll be getting certain players back."

United face Mazembe in the second leg on Saturday in Pretoria with the action getting underway from 20:15.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
