Dikwena maintain winning run

Cape Town - Platinum Stars moved into the top-half of the Premiership table courtesy of their 2-0 win over Golden Arrows at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Tuesday.

The hosts attacked from the get-go as Gerald Phiri Jr flashed a shot just wide of the target in the opening minute of the match in Rustenburg.

Their pressure would pay off 10 minutes later when Ntuli played in Tshabalala, whose left-footed shot nestled in the back of the net.

Nkosingiphile Gumede prevented Stars from going 2-0 up on 17 minutes with a good save to keep out Phiri Jr, while Arrows created their first chance five minutes later as Lerato Lamola fired over the crossbar after being picked out by Nkosinathi Mthiyane.

Gumede was called into action again just before the break to deny Vuyo Mere after the Dikwena skipper had been set up by Phiri Jr in the 43rd minute.

The visitors looked better in the second half, creating early opportunities through Mthiyane and Lamola, although both failed to hit the target with their respective efforts.

But Dinaledi threatened to double their advantage on 67 minutes as Ntuli got off a shot that was desperately blocked by Musa Bilankulu, before Benson Shilongo tested Gumede in the 82nd minute.

However, Gumede was beaten for the second time with one minute remaining in regulation time as Ntuli slotted home with his left foot to seal the win.
