Dikwena out to avoid hat-trick of defeats

Cape Town - Platinum Stars will look to avoid a hat-trick of Absa Premiership defeats when they host Maritzburg United at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Stars suffered a second straight loss when they were beaten 1-0 at Polokwane City on November 21.

The Rustenburg side has claimed seven points from four home matches this season.

Dikwena are placed fifth on the Absa Premiership log with 18 points from 10 matches.

Maritzburg recorded just their second draw of the season when they were held 1-1 at home by Kaizer Chiefs on November 21.

The KwaZulu-Natal side has claimed three points from five away matches this season.

The Team of Choice is placed 16th on the Absa Premiership log with five points from 11 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Stars and Maritzburg have met in 18 league matches since 2005/06.

Dikwena have 10 wins compared to five for the Team of Choice, while three matches have been drawn.

Stars have won five of their nine home matches against United, suffering two defeats in the process.

Last season the Team of Choice completed a league ‘double’ over Dikwena, winning 3-1 at home and 2-1 away.

The teams have played to just one goalless stalemate in their last 10 league meetings.

Kick-off is at 15:30 Sunday, December 20.
