Cape Town - Did Shaun Bartlett turn down the opportunity to take the reins at struggling Maritzburg United.
Well, according to Kickoff.com, he did.
Maritzburg have been looking for their third coach of the season since they parted ways with former Bafana Bafana mentor Clive Barker last month.
The Team of Choice are locked in a relegation battle, currently bottom of the log with one win from 12 fixtures.
Reports had suggested that Bartlett was in the mix to coach Maritzburg at the start of the season, but the United board opted for Steve Komphela's assistant in 2014.15 Mandla Ncikazi.
Bartlett, meanwhile, coached Golden Arrows back into the PSL by winning the NFD in 2014/15 and is considered one of the brightest young prospects in South African coaching circles.
Maritzburg are not expected to name a new coach before the end of the week, but front-runners for the post are Ernst Middendorp, Roger Sikhakhane, Mike Wotte of the Netherlands and former New Zealand coach Ricky Herbert.
