D'Avray ready to pioneer Ajax to new heights

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town Head of Football Mich d’Avray says he is ready to pioneer the Premiership club to new heights this season and beyond.

The Urban Warriors are looking to bounce back from a disappointing campaign after finishing in 10th place and with the former assistant coach leading a brand new technical team - there's a sense of optimism surrounding Ikamva.

"My 12 months as an assistant-coach gave me the opportunity to have a look at the club's structures and how it operates," he told IOL. "Ajax have a good product, but there is still room to improve in every department.

"If you don’t keep your finger on the pulse, you could get caught out. I see my new role as making sure that Ajax continue to improve and grow as a club."

With Stanley Menzo as head coach, Boebie Solomons as the assistant coach and Hans Vonk leading the club's development, d’Avray explained his role at the Parow-based outfit.

"Essentially, I take over the football department at Ajax, from bottom to top," he said. "To use a corporate analogy, you could probably say I am the CEO in charge of everything that involves football at the club. "
