CT City to make first ever CAF appearance

Cape Town - Cape Town City will make their first ever appearance in a CAF cup competition when they face Young Buffaloes of Swaziland in the preliminary round of the Confederations Cup.

The draw for the preliminary rounds of the CAF Interclubs 2018 was conducted on Wednesday December 13 during the meeting of the CAF Interclubs Committee at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

Eric Tinkler's SuperSport United will face either Angola's Petro Atlético de Luanda or Master Security Services of Malawi in the first round of the Confed Cup.

Previous Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United both received a bye into the first round and will not play in the Champions League or Confed Cup preliminary round.

Masandawana will face either LLB Académic FC from Burundi or Rayon Sport of Rwanda in their group stage qualifier.

Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits will face Pamplemousses of Mauritius in the preliminary round of the Champions League.

City face will go head-to-head with Young Buffaloes over two legs on February 9–11 and February 16–18 2018.
