CT City ready to stifle Baroka in top 4 pursuit

Cape Town - Baroka and Cape Town City face off at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday with both teams desperate to get back to winning ways in the Absa Premiership.

Bakgaga have recorded just one league victory this year - a poor run that saw Kgoloko Thobejane suspended as coach earlier this month - and they come into the midweek clash with no wins in their last five games.

The Limpopo outfit did manage to claim a point in three of their last four encounters, but find themselves just clinging onto a top-eight spot with five clubs breathing down their necks.

They squandered an early lead to draw 1-1 with local rivals Polokwane City in their most recent outing on Saturday.

City, meanwhile, have dropped out of contention for the league title after going winless in their last four matches.

Three straight defeats against Mamelodi Sundowns (1-0), Kaizer Chiefs (1-0) and Bidvest Wits (2-1) have left the Blue and Gold Army nine points adrift of the summit in sixth place with eight games left to play.

The reverse fixture on November 21 ended in a 1-1 draw after Craig Martin cancelled out Robin Ngalande's opener for Baroka.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
