Cape Town - It has been reported that Jomo Comos could be docked points for fielding goalkeeper, Thabo Modiba, without an international transfer certificate (ITC).
According to KickOff, the 'keeper stood between the sticks for Ezenkosi against Kaizer Chiefs in March, a game which was won by Cosmos.
Modiba played in the Namibia Premier League and allegedly signed to Cosmos without being registered for an ITC.
Dropping points now would not be ideal for Ezenkosi as the relegation battle heats up.
Cosmos (14th) have accumulated 25 points while the University of Pretoria (15th) and Maritzburg United (16th) both sit on 21 points with two games left in the Absa Premiership.
Meanwhile, Sono has denied that Modiba was fielded without being registered for an ITC.
The coach said that, "there is no way we can make a mistake on this" after Maritzburg chairman Farouk Kadodia brought reported case to the media's attention.
"The reality is SAFA has got a case against Jomo for ITC clearance. We were informed from the League that the matter is pending from SAFA to the PSL, bringing them aware of the fact that SAFA will be taking action against the matter," said Kadodia.
"We were told because we are also fighting for relegation and it is worthy for us to know about it, so all we did specifically was we wrote to the League to tell them that we are fully aware that there is a matter between SAFA and Jomo Cosmos and we would like them to keep us updated... that is all we asked and nothing else."
