City expecting speedy return for Modise

Cape Town - Cape Town City midfielder Teko Modise could recover from injury in time to feature in next week's league game against Orlando Pirates.

The 34-year-old former Bafana Bafana playmaker limped off after only 15 minutes in City's 2-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday, while his debut for the club, against Platinum Stars, also having been delayed through injury.

However, the club are confident that Modise's issue is only minor and are expecting him to be back in contention for a place in Benni McCarthy's team soon.

"A sense of relief as Teko Modise only suffered a minor strain. Dona is expected back within the next week!" the club tweeted.

City face Pirates, one of Modise's former clubs, in a league match at the Orlando Stadium next week Tuesday before hosting Polokwane City three days later.

Modise has already registered his first goal for the Cape side, in a 3-1 win over Dikwena.
