Cape Town - Chippa United coach Roger Sikhakhane admits he needs to free up space in his squad before making a move for former SuperSport United winger Bennett Chenene.
The 31-year-old is currently without a club after parting ways with Matsatsantsa during the off-season, but he had been training with the Chilli Boys since October.
Chenene is no longer with the Chippa squad, but could return to Port Elizabeth in the New Year if Sikhakhane manages to offload a few players on loan during the mid-season transfer window.
"Chenene has been training with us but we have since stopped him," Sikhakhane told KickOff. "He will come back in January if we manage to loan some players out first.
"We have about 33 players right now and we feel we need to loan some players out first to create space for anyone new in the team.
"The numbers in our squad are really important because we don't want to have a squad that is way too big."
Sikhakhane also confirmed he is running the rule over Tshwane University of Technology striker Itumeleng Mogotsi, saying: "He will be with us for a week."
