Chippa head coach hospitalised

Cape Town - Chippa United boss Chippa Mpengesi has confirmed that head coach Dan Malesela has been admitted to hospital.

The Chilli Boys are set to play Bidvest Wits on Tuesday evening in an Absa Premiership clash but will have to do so without Malesela in the technical area.

"This is painful to all of us, but unfortunately, it’s beyond our control. He felt the pain in his chest yesterday (Sunday) in training and went to see a doctor," Mpengesi said as quoted by KickOff.

"I spoke to him and he told me about the pain but after an hour, I heard that his condition became serious and was taken to hospital. I think it’s something to do with his heart but I’m not sure, but it’s got to do with a heart condition

"We are so sad and shocked by this but we can’t control God’s will. We wish him a speedy recovery."

Wits can go to the summit of the Premiership standings with victory away to Chippa at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

The Clever Boys are currently second on the standings, a point behind Cape Town City and with two games in hand.

Meanwhile, United are in 10th place - having played 20 games - and accumulated 22 points.

Kick off is at 19:30.
