Chippa confirm Mtsweni signing

Cape Town - Chippa United have further bolstered their squad ahead of the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season with the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Simphiwe Mtsweni.

Mtsweni who joined the Soweto giants in 2013 from Farouk Khan's esteemed Stars of Africa academy was released by the Naturena based outfit along with 19 other players at the start of June.

According to the club's official Twitter account, the left-back joined the Port-Elizabeth outfit on a three-year deal.

"We can confirm the signing of Simphiwe Mtsweni on a 3 yr deal. He's been training with the club for the past 2 wks," the tweet read.

The 22-year-old's arrival is expected to add quality to Dan Malesela's new-look squad, with Mtsweni expected to compete with fellow new signing Marc van Heerden for a starting berth.
