Cape Town - Chippa United were held to a 0-0 draw by Bloemfontein Celtic in their Premiership clash at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
In a fixture where both teams failed to impress, it was a frustrating game of football, even for the neutrals.
The two sides failed to create adequate chances and settled for their third stalemate of the new season.
Chippa came into the fixture with a real sense of confidence after a 1-1 draw away to SuperSport United in midweek, and with a sizable crowd in attendance, there was a wave of expectancy among the locals for an attack-minded display of football.
A few odd chances were created by the Chilli Boys, who saw a Moeketsi Sekola header from a Kurt Lentjies corner smash against the crossbar just before the break.
The second-half was a scrappy affair with niggling fouls spoiling the overall flow of the game and it was only until the 87th minute where the home support had reason to get off their seats.
Former Celtic striker Lerato Manzini hit the upright from just outside the box with Patrick Tignyemb well beaten.
However, both teams settled for the draw as they remained in the bottom-half of the Premiership table.
