Cape Town - Chippa United have secured the future of Erick Chipeta after handing the defender a two-year contract extension this week.
The Zimbabwean had entered the final six months of his previous deal with the Chilli Boys and was free to speak to other clubs.
Mpumalanga Black Aces were reportedly keen on acquiring his services, but Chippa have moved to ward off any potential interest in the 25-year-old.
Chipeta has been a key performer for the Port Elizabeth outfit this season, starting all 14 games in the Premiership and chipping in with three goals.
A Chippa official confirmed the new deal, saying: "The club has a two-year option. We exercised it today and he is staying with the club."
