Chiefs without influential duo for Ajax clash

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs will be without the influential duo of Joseph Molangoane and Willard Katsande when they face Ajax Cape Town, due to suspension.

The Glamour Boys had four players at the risk of facing a ban when they took on and beat Platinum Stars 1-0 last Saturday, with George Maluleka, Siyabonga Ngezana, Molangoane and Katsande all walking the tightrope.

Nonetheless, only the wide man and the defensive midfielder picked up a yellow in the contest, meaning they are suspended for the Absa Premiership clash against the Urban Warriors on Saturday night at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

As such, it appears Wiseman Meyiwa may have to deputise for Katsande in the holding role while either of the returning Ramahlwe Mphahlele or Kgotso Moleko could come in for Molangoane.

Amakhosi are third in the standings on 19 points but trail leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by three points. The Brazilians also have three games in hand.

Kick off is at 20:15.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
