Chiefs under pressure to break winless streak

Cape Town - Experienced Kaizer Chiefs duo Siphiwe Tshabalala and Willard Katsande are both available again ahead of Wednesday's league fixture away to Platinum Stars.

Amakhosi head into the clash at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, their final away game of the season, occupying fifth spot, a point behind SuperSport and five behind Cape Town City.

Their last outing ended in a 1-0 defeat to Polokwane City which made it four games without a win for the Soweto side.

Coach Steve Komphela will however be buoyed by the return of two of his most senior pros - Katsande is back from a one-match suspension, while Tshabalala missed the games against Golden Arrows and Polokwane City through a muscle strain which he has now recovered from.

Komphela will be hoping for improvements up front, saying after the match against Rise and Shine that his side "didn't take the chances we had or advantage of the situations we created ourselves."

He will also be looking for more concentration and commitment at the back.

"I think we defended badly on the corner. We don't normally concede on corner kicks; last season we conceded a lot, this season only once. We should have defended better.

"I thought in defence you need to put your body on the line. There are stages where the ball, even if it's 50-50 or 60-40, we just need to put a stronger foot in so that you can defend," said the former Bafana Bafana defender.

Dikwena meanwhile are in 11th position, safe from relegation but not likely to be able to challenge for a top eight spot, being four points off the pace.

They have won one, lost one and drawn three of their last five games, including a 0-0 stalemate away to Maritzburg United in their most recent action.

Coach Cavin Johnson remains hopeful that if results go his side's way, Stars could creep into the top eight, although he is wary of fatigue.

"We played Maritzburg United (in the Absa Premiership) away on Wednesday and had to fight for a 0-0 draw.

"On Sunday we (played) in the CAF Confed Cup, then Wednesday we play Kaizer Chiefs in the league and next Saturday we play SuperSport United in our final league match.

"It's tough as we still have an outside chance of a top eight finish, so we can't relax," he was quoted saying by the Daily Sun.

While Chiefs have no suspensions, Stars have two players out - defender Sphamandla Mlilo and midfielder Kulegani Madondo.

Striker Ndumosi Mabena is also a doubt after he missed Dikwena's 1-1 draw with MC Alger in a CAF Confederation Cup game last weekend through injury.
