Chiefs to put pressure on top three

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs will look to continue their strong form in the Absa Premiership when they host Platinum Stars at Cape Town Stadium.

Chiefs have claimed seven points from the last nine up for grabs and extended their unbeaten run to five games, picking up a 1-0 win away to Bloemfontein Celtic on January 17.

The Soweto giants have claimed 14 points from seven home matches this season.

The Amakhosi are placed fourth on the Absa Premiership log with 25 points from 14 matches.

Stars saw their winless run extended to five matches with a 2-1 home loss to Free State Stars on January 17.

The Rustenburg side has claimed 12 points from seven away matches this season.

Dikwena are placed sixth on the Absa Premiership log with 20 points from 13 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Stars have met in 24 league matches since 2003/04.

The Amakhosi have 10 wins compared to four for Dikwena, while 10 matches have been drawn.

Chiefs have won four of their 12 home matches against Stars, suffering two defeats in the process.

Last season the Amakhosi took four points off Dikwena, winning 2-0 in Rustenburg before drawing 2-2 at home in the return game.

Chiefs have been held to a draw in three of their last five home games against Stars.

Kick-off is at 15:30 on Sunday, January 24.
