Chiefs sign new medical aid scheme

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have signed a new partnership with Medshield medical scheme.

Chiefs' chairperson Kaizer Motaung made the announcement at Naturena in Johannesburg on Thursday.

The agreement, which will run for a three-year period with an option to extend, will see Medshield cater to the club’s medical insurance needs. Players, technical team and staff will be the direct beneficiaries of the partnership, saving the club and the individual’s substantial costs which the club will reinvest in the running of the business.

Established in 1968, Medshield is one of South Africa’s leading medical schemes.

"We are delighted that a reputable medical scheme such as Medshield has agreed to partner with our brand and we believe both of us will benefit immensely from this partnership," said Motaung.

"Football business is evolving and overheads are escalating all the time. With a trusted medical scheme provider, we will surely be able to offset some of these costs and reinvest in the running of the business.

"We always believe in quality and ensuring that our players are in tip top condition. Together with Medshield, we will work hard to make sure that players, technical teams and staff members are looked after from a medical point of view."
