Cape Town - According to widespread reports, Kaizer Chiefs striker Edward Manqele is being taken to court by his former agent, Josiah Mphono.
Manqele and Mphono have allegedly been involved in a dispute for an extended period of time, with the player's former representative claiming that he is owed money by the Chiefs star.
"The issue between us and this guy (Manqele) is about breach of contract. We had a contract which he breached and, now, with the way things are, it looks like we are fighting him," Mphono, who claims that the forward is in breach of contract, told Soccer Laduma.
"We were showed how much he earns and the length of his contract. It was after that, that the amount which he was supposed to pay us was worked out. We all agreed that he was going to pay us in two instalments.
"We had our first meeting over this matter in October last year and the player signed the agreement in December. I was in that October meeting, together with Bobby (Motaung), Abdulla (Mayet), Sipho (Shaven) and Manqele.
"He made the first payment on the 28th of January as per the agreement and the second instalment was supposed to be paid in July, but he failed to pay. He told my lawyer that he had issues with his car and that the insurance company wasn't paying for it, so he was using the money to fix his car."
The 29-year-old has made 22 appearances and scored one goal during his time so far at Naturena.
