Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has said their "aim" is very "clear" as to what they would like to gain from the Telkom Knockout.
Komphela says his side are expecting to reach the final of the Telkom Knockout and hopefully lift the coveted trophy, after grinding out a hard-fought win over Maritzburg United in the Round of 16.
The Glamour Boys needed penalties to defeat Maritzburg and thus advance to the quarter-final phase of the competition.
The draw for the next phase of the tournament will be made on Thursday after Mamelodi Sundowns clash with Polokwane City. The game has been delayed due to Downs' commitments in the CAF Champions League.
Nonetheless, Komphela believes that advancing to the final and winning the competition is a realistic ambition for the side from Naturena.
Amakhosi are yet to win silverware under the 49-year-old, having lost two finals in the Telkom Knockout and MTN8 during the 2015/16 season.
"We wanted to see ourselves in the quarterfinals,” he told the club's official website.
"The priority in a knockout competition is to progress to the next stage. And thanks, we scrapped through this round.
"The performance was uninspiring but after a win you are able to rectify the performance going to the next match.
"We are looking forward to the quarter-final draw. Our aim is very clear.
"That is to take it one game at the time, but also to anticipate reaching the final and lifting the trophy."
Meanwhile, Chiefs will shift their focus to the Soweto derby on Saturday as they face arch-rivals Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium.
Kick-Off is at 15:30.
