Chiefs in need of lethal striker

Johannesburg - Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Stanton Fredericks feels the Glamour Boys are in desperate need of a lethal goal poacher to overcome their difficulties this season.

Amakhosi's strikeforce have accumulated just a solitary league goal between them so far this term, while the side has secured four wins, three draws and one loss in the Premiership.

Chiefs were also eliminated from the Telkom Knockout and have only scored twice in their last four games.

Fredericks also believes their clash against African champions Mamelodi Sundowns will prove a big challenge.

"I just know Chiefs need a goal scorer, that's the main man. Camaldine Abraw is out injured and Bernard Parker has not been playing regularly, so Chiefs don't have a top man," he told Soccer Laduma.

"The challenge for Chiefs is getting a scorer. On the other end, Sundowns don't have the same problem. Sundowns create enough opportunities and score with midfielders and false strikers.

"They even get goals from defenders. I believe tactics will decide this game and whoever applies the best tactics on the day will win the match."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
