Celtic's home woes continue with goalless stalemate

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic and Polokwane City played to a 0-0 stalemate at the Dr Molemela Stadium in an Absa Premiership clash on Sunday afternoon.

Siwelele seeing their winless run at home extended to four matches, with the Free State side lingering at the wrong end of the table as their search for Serame Letsoaka's permanent replacement continues.

Both teams conjured several goal-scoring opportunities throughout the 90, but in the end the two goalkeepers came out on top in what was a battle between the two opposing shot-stoppers.

Filling in for Patrick Tignyemb, Ayanda Mtshali proved his worth with a superb save to deny Thobani Mncwango from 12 yards in the 28th minutes, after Rise and Shine were awarded a penalty for a handball inside the area.

In the second stanza it was the turn of George Chigova with the Zimbabwe international making a superb double save in the 49th minute, before denying Deon Hotto the opener with eight minutes remaining.

In the end, the two teams had to settle for a point apiece. Rise and Shine remain 7th on the log standings, with Celtic 13th.
