Cape Town - Kabelo Mahlasela could potentially be moving to Kaizer Chiefs in January, but only if Amakhosi meet Bloemfontein Celtic's asking price.
According to a report on the Goal website, Phunya Sele Sele are willing to part with their start midfielder if Chiefs meet their valuation.
If not, the Glamour Boys could potentially get their man for free in July when his contract runs out.
That would likely increase the risk of other suitors making a move for the talented 26-year-old, although he could also potentially sign a pre-contract with Chiefs in January.
"The latest news is that Celtic told Chiefs to meet their asking price or wait until July to have Mahlasela," claimed an unnamed source.
"The two clubs have already held talks, but no agreement was reached. The ball is firmly in Chiefs' court.
"If they don't want to pay for the player, then they will have to wait until he's a free agent."
