Celtic confirm signing two strikers

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic have signed two new strikers, Fiston Abdoul and Witbank Spurs’ Julius Likontsane, the club announced.

Abdul joins the team on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, while Linkontsane, who is an under-23 international, signed permanently on a three-year deal. The pair will join their teammates in Bloemfontein on Friday.

Khumbulani Konco, the CEO of Bloemfontein Celtic, welcomed the two players and also applauded their teams for their cooperation.

“The new players will lift the pressure off our strikers and we trust that they will do the job at hand. As a club, we welcome them and thank their respective teams on how they handled the negotiations,” Konco said in a statement.

During recent post-match interviews, Celtic head coach Serame Letsoaka has lamented his side's low conversion rate.

In their last two games, Celtic have been unsuccessful in the goal-scoring department.

Konco indicated that coach Letsoka and his technical team had identified the two players based on their abilities and believe that they will be suitable for the team’s style of play.

“We play an enterprising game but we have been unlucky in front of goals. Should the players be available for selection, they will need to hit the ground running,” Konco said.

Celtic host Bidvest Wits this Sunday at the Molemela Stadium and will play against SuperSport three days later (Wednesday) at the same venue.

Sunday's game kick off at 15:30pm.
