Cape Town - Cape Town City FC have further bolstered their squad ahead of the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season with the signing of Renars Rode on a one-year deal.
The Latvia international was snapped up from SK Sigma Olomouc and will spend the next season at the PSL-debutants with a one-year extension option.
The club confirmed the capture of the centre-back via their official twitter account, in addition to a press statement released later in the day.
"We are delighted to Welcome, Latvian International, Renars Rode to Cape Town City FC. #NewSignings #iamCityFC," City said on their Twitter page.
Club owner John Comitis stated that the Cape-based outfit are 'sending out strong signals' of intent based on their recent acquisitions.
"I believe this proves that Cape Town City are sending out strong signals that we are here and we mean business," he said in the club's press release.
"Signing a Latvian international is another way we are balancing out the team with different styles of football.
"We have the home Diski players as it was from Black Aces, then we’ve now added some youth from Cape Town and we mixing it with the Europeans’ experience."
