Cale heartbroken by Ajax axing

Cape Town - Former Ajax Cape Town winger Franklin Cale expressed disappointment after the club opted against retaining his services.

The veteran was released from his contract after three years of his second spell at the Urban Warriors.

The 33-year-old Cale had his first spell at the club from 2004 to 2010 before going on to represent Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United.

"You know at first it was really hard to take and believe what was happening," Cale told Goal website.

"You can say that I have been at this club my whole life, my whole career because they have given me everything that I have. I am able to do everything I can through what they have done for me.

"I love the club dearly and I even have the club's badge tattooed on my body because that's just how much I love the club.

"I never thought the day would come when Ajax have to tell me that I must go and look for another club, you know? I know that every time I played I gave it my all and this came at a time when I felt I want to do more for this club."
