Buchanan played well, says Komphela

Cape Town - Kaizer chiefs coach Steve Komphela says that Keagan Buchanan and Hendrick Ekstein performed up to expectations during the club's loss to Polokwane City.

The pair were handed rare starts with Buchanan coming in for the suspended Willard Katsande and Ekstein, who filled in for the injured Siphiwe Tshabalala.

Despite the loss to Rise and Shine, Komphela has revealed he was happy with the performance level of the duo.

He told the club's official website, "Buchanan played well. He didn’t have match fitness, but he commanded himself well under the circumstances.

"We missed Katsande because he gives you an added advantage with his robustness in the middle of the park. Siphiwe Tshabalala was also out and that gave Hendrick Ekstein a chance to play and he also did well."

With two games to go and little left to play for Amakhosi, Komphela added, "We have started to check certain pieces to give us clarity on individual players and combinations."

Meanwhile Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung has admitted that poor decisions were made when signing new players and says they'll have a proper review of what went wrong.
