Bookies can't split Chiefs, Pirates

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates or the draw? That is the question everyone is asking themselves ahead of the Soweto derby on Saturday.

Leading South African bookmakers BET.co.za have made the match a 'choice' game in a rare situation where a Chiefs win, Pirates win or the draw are all priced up at the same odds.

You can get 18/10 on all three potential results.

With four of the last five meetings between the giants of South African football ending in a draw, many will be betting on another stalemate, with the fear of losing such a big game seeming to stifle these teams when they meet.

Historically there aren't too many pointers as to who might triumph.

In all their league meetings going back 59 games, Kaizer Chiefs hold the upper hand with 24 wins to the 12 of Pirates.

However, when you look at their record in the PSL things are much closer with Amakhosi holding a slender 11-10 win record after 42 encounters.

The match is so difficult to call, in fact, that BET.co.za have pledged to pay out supporters of their team after the first goal in the derby.

In a South African first, all match winner bets on either Chiefs or Pirates will be honoured to the team who scores first.

Kick-off at Soccer City is at 15:30.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
