Baxter irked by injuries to key players

Johannesburg - SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter expressed his frustration with the injuries to a handful of his key players in this early stage of the season.

The most recent injury victim is experienced attacker Dove Wome, who picked up a knock in the 1-0 win over Maritzburg United last week.

Wome joins Clayton Daniels, Kingston Nkhatha, Tefu Mashamaite, Bradley Grobler, Thabo Makhele, David Mathebula, Cole Alexander, Grant Kekana and Fagrie Lakay on what is proving to be a lengthy injury list.

Striker Kingston Nkhatha also limped off in the second half of Saturday's goalless draw with Free State Stars, and was replaced by Thabo Mnyamane.

"The situation of injuries is ridiculous and we have Dove Wome now and he just had an MRI and he's going to be out with a knee injury," Baxter told KickOff.

"We had Kingston Nkhatha limping off. Our options are greatly reduced but it doesn't mean we shouldn't have played better in the game (against Free State Stars).

"I thought this was the game we should have won and this game was a disappointing performance."

Next up for Matsatsantsa is a Premiership clash with Golden Arrows at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday.
