Baxter: I loved my time at SuperSport

Pretoria - Outgoing SuperSport United head coach Stuart Baxter says he intends to finish his tenure at the club in a "dignified way".

The 63-year-old is set to start his second tenure as Bafana Bafana mentor next month.

However, Baxter is aware that the club still has a chance at winning some silverware before the curtain closes on the 2016/17 campaign.

The master tactician admits that it has not been an easy road to manage United, but has enjoyed every minute.

“I have to finish my job at SuperSport United and it has been difficult, I admit,” says Baxter.

“I have loved my time at the club and the players have been fantastic. I want to finish my tenure there in a dignified way.

“It was not an easy road being in charge of a team like SuperSport as I said, but I liked it there.”

Baxter joined Matsatsantsa in January 2016, succeeding the sacked Gordon Igesund and to his credit, guided SuperSport to the 2015/16 Nedbank Cup title only five months into his contract.

Notably, Matsatsantsa overcame the odds and reached the Telkom Knockout final earlier this season - which they lost to Cape Town City FC.

Baxter is still in contention for this season's Ke Yona championship as his team face a struggling Chippa United in the semi-finals at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
