Cape Town - Baroka
FC chairperson Khurishi Mphahlele has hinted that technical director Doctor
Khumalo could be in line for a long stay at the club having impressed
management since his arrival in August.
The legend of South African football was expected to take over the coaching job when Bakgaga parted ways with Kgoloko Thobejane, but Mphahlele says Khumalo has his eyes only on his responsibilities.
"He has brought a lot of changes," Mphahlele told KickOff. "When you look at the way the team is playing, you will see that we are not like last year.
"We play with shape and we can defend now. We are very happy with what he is doing and we would be glad to keep him for more seasons."
Khumalo has also been praised for helping the likes of Gift Motupa and Talent Chawaphiwa to rediscover their best form in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Mphahlele also stated that Baroka have decided to give assistant coach MacDonald Makhubedu a chance to prove himself at the helm.
"He (Makhubedu) has the rest of the season to prove that he can be a boss," the Bakgaga chief added.
"The CVs have been coming. They were coming even when Kgoloko was still here. That is not a problem for us.
"Makhubedu still has his job as an assistant, but if he is ready to be the man in charge, then we will give him a chance to show us."
The Limpopo outfit have registered three victories and three draws since Makhubelu took charge of the first team.
