Bacela set to retire

Cape Town - Striker Lennox Bacela has opted to retire from professional football despite receiving a contract offer from National First Division side Royal Eagles.

The 33 year-old was part of the University of Pretoria team that was relegated to the NFD last season.

Bacela made his name at Bloemfontein Celtic in 2012 before moving to Orlando Pirates where he helped the team finish runners-up in the CAF Confederation Cup last season.

Royal Eagles team manager Richard Makhoba suggested that Bacela would take up a position of football analyst at SuperSport.

"Unfortunately with Bacela, we had agreement but he decided to retire and he told us that he doesn't want to play football anymore," Makhoba told KickOff.
