Cape Town - Goals from Vuyani Ntanga and Wayde Jooste took Golden Arrows to a 2-0 win over Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership match at Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday evening.
CTC started brightly and created a few early chances, though they never really troubled Arrows goalkeeper Maximillian Mbaeva, who took in several crosses, free kicks and corners but was relatively unworried by shots on target.
The same could be said for Shu-Aib Walters at the other end, but in the 40th minute the hosts managed to break the deadlock through Vuyani Ntanga, who turned the ball into the back of the net from Lehlohonolo Nonyane’s cross.
The visitors made a couple of attacking substitutions before the midway point of the second half (sending on James Brown and Judas Moseamedi) in an effort to get back into the game, but Abafana Bes’thende were able to soak up whatever was thrown at them.
The Durban side was even able to double its lead late in the match when substitute Wayde Jooste netted deep in injury time to put the cherry on top for the hosts.
