Cape Town - SuperSport United midfielder Cole Alexander admits the club's start to the new season has not been up to expectations.
The player, who joined Matsatsantsa on a pre-contract agreement in January from Polokwane City, made his debut for SuperSport during the club's MTN8 quarter-final loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The defeat is the second-in-a-row at the start of 2016/17 with United going down 1-0 to Platinum Stars in their opening Premiership encounter.
Alexander, who was said to be on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs prior to his move to SuperSport, explained that the defeat to Sundowns was even worse because it happened at the hands of a major derby rival.
"Losing two matches in a row is not acceptable to our supporters," he told the club's official website.
"Also, what makes matters worse is the fact that our second loss was a Tshwane derby.
"It is not good at all."
However, the 27-year-old was optimistic that the club could turn things around and asked for patience from the Matsatsantsa faithful.
"I'm pleading with our supporters to exercise patience and everything will be fine."
United's next league game takes place after the international break, against Chippa United on 14 September.
